This weekend (and next), D1 and D2 were run together but scored separately figuring some teams would be short handed while some would take off completely for the holidays.
The competition didn't seem to matter to Ahmir as he scored two more wins and has yet to contest his best event, the triple jump. In his first 60M hurdle race of the season, he tied last year's PR (8.83) in the pre-lims, and led from the gun in the finals. His 8.52 final was well under the 8.65 he needs for States and ranks him #4 state-wide thus far.
Since last spring, Johnson's last three HJ competitions went like this: SOL Conference: 6-2 PR, District 1 Champs: 6-3 PR, yesterday: 6-4 PR (tied for #5 state-wide). Observers say he can clear 6-8 with some form work. The State Qualifying Standard is 6-3.
The Distance Medley team of Hoyer (3:24.0), Wright (53.5), Miles (2:11.1) and Leung (4:58.9) did a nice job in finishing 4th.
The other lone MOC qualifier yesterday was Rahsheed Wright with his 7.40 60M pre-lim.
Other notables were Josh Chaiken's 4th place 3000PR and the 4x8 making MOC by finishing second.
