WISSAHICKON STUNS LASALLE

The Wissahickon boys lacrosse team opened the first round of the state playoffs vs Catholic League power Lasalle College High School who was the favorite to win the state title. Lasalle, as advertised ,opened up an early 2-0 lead only to see the Trojans score the next 4 goals of the quarter. The Trojans very determined , scored the next three goals as well to go up 7-2 at the half.  The third quarter started and the Trojans scored 2 more making it a 9-0 run. Lasalle made a come back of its own scoring the next 5 goals of the quarter to pull within 9-7. The fourth quarter started and Lasalle tacked on 2 more to tie the game at 9. The comeback was short lived though as Jackson Intrieri who was unstoppable all night found a cutting Brody Meyers with less than a minute to play to seal the game for the Trojans 10-9. Senior Jackson Intrieri was a handful all night leading the Trojans offense with 4 goals and 4 assists. Fellow senior Brody Meyers scored 4 goals as well. Kyle Lehman had 1 goal and 1 assist and Dean Wolfe added 1 goal. Senior goalie Scott Pfeiffer was his usual stellar and steady self in the goal with 9 big saves. Senior Matt Fritz was awesome all night as well going 17/23 at the faceoff X.  The defense was led by Jake Licata, Quiinn Fonash, Joey Connolly, Ethan Glass and Alex Solomon. EJ Schreiner was all over the field making plays all night.  Andrew Slackman and Jason Michaels played an excellent game as well.
