The Wissahickon boys lacrosse team advanced to the quarterfinal round of the state playoffs for the first time in school history Saturday and took on Kennett. The Trojans came out on fire and took a commanding 4-0 lead to end the first quarter. Kennett had a strong second quarter and got to within one goal and the Trojans led 5-4 at the half. The second half started and it was all Trojans again as they scored the first three goals of the half making it 8-4. Matt Fritz led the way at the faceoff X going 14/23 on the day. However Kennett's goalie stopped about 5 point blank shots by the Trojans and Kennett mounted a comeback. The third quarter ended Trojans 8-7. The fourth quarter Kennett outscored the Trojans 4-0 and the game ended 11-8 Kennett. The Trojans were led on offense by Jackson Intrieri's 3 goals and 3 assists.Kyle Lehman had 2 goals. Dean Wolfe had 1 goal and 1 assist. Brody Meyers and Andrew Slackman both added one goal and EJ Schreiner added an assist. Scott Pfeiffer had 10 saves in goal. The entire Trojans team left it all out their on the field. The defense was led by Jake Licata, Quinn Fonash, Joey Connolly, Ethan Glass, EJ Schreiner and Alex Solomon. The Trojans were last Suburban One Team alive and finished the season with a 18-6 record. The most wins by any Trojan team. The Trojans were impressive all season long as they played every team in the top 10 and beat two of the teams in the final four of the state tournament that are remaining.
