Track Teams Head to States
Updated on 06/10/2022
The boys and girls track teams have been steadily adding to the list of State Championship qualifiers all season. For the girls, making the trip to State College this weekend will be pole vaulter Cala Lejman (#12 PA), Haley Ross in the 800M (this is Haley’s third state meet trip – indoors last year, cross country last fall and this one), and the 4x4 (Rachel and Michela Colman, Ross and Leike Black) who hit the standard just last week. Lejman, who holds our school vault record of 11-6, will be looking to crack the top 8 and grab a medal.
The boys have been ranked in the top 10 in the state in their events all season. Rahsheed Wright has hit the mark for 60M, 200M and 400M but has opted for just the 400 (49.83 #6 PA) and relay duties. Cam Christopher’s 1:57.37 800 Ranks him #12 and should make the top heat. The last few years have seen the sprint relays scoring medals out of the slower heats and this year will be no different. The 4x2 (Shamere Dunswell, Wright, Max Davies, Matt Selverian) should be the top seed in the second fastest heat with their #7 ranking. The #8 rated 4x4 (Davies, Christopher, Sam Kane, Wright) also have a great shot at hardware, running from the second fastest heat. Ahmir Johnson has been sitting at #1 PA In the Triple Jump (46-3) since early Dec.and goes into the weekend at #4, while his 22-3 Long Jump ranks him #6.
