Allison holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education degree from Elizabethtown College. She graduated in 2010 with a concentration on flute and percussion as well as a minor in Business Administration.

Allison began her music career in the Wissahickon School District where she graduated from Wissahickon High School in 2006. While there, she participated in marching band, jazz band, orchestra, and indoor drumline among other activities. In 2004, Allison participated in the Individual and Ensemble competition for the indoor season and won first place on solo marimba. She also participated in District Band in 2005 on piccolo.

While at Elizabethtown College, Allison had the opportunity to conduct a research study. In 2009, Allison and a school colleague collected information from instrumental ensemble participants for a study called "Self-Reported Medical Problems of College Instrumental Musicians" where it was then displayed in the poster session at the PMEA Conference. In 2010, Allison continued to conduct research for a study called "Self-Reported Medical Problems of College Band and Orchestra Members" and participated in another poster session at the PMEA conference as well as presented at a research forum at the conference.

Allison's love for music and medicine has led her to where she is today. She has been working in medical research since 2011 for a company that supports imaging in clinical research trials as well as teaching private music lessons around the Ambler, PA area for over 5 years. In fall 2011, Allison returned to her high school alma mater as the front ensemble instructor for the Wissahickon Marching Unit.
