WISSAHICKON 1, UD 2
A draw at half, but a battle non-the-less, Wiss gave rivals Upper Dublin a run for their money. Starting backs Sam Comonitski, Brooke Berry, Kelly Dickson, and Grace Mullen keeping pace against UDs push forward. With a better sense of urgency than our prior three games, Wiss played well the entire 80 minutes. Swing player Rachel Cohen gave not an inch, playing fierce in the midfield. Along side her was Grace Mullen and Carly Amato with stellar games in their own right. Natalie Gruenke also had a great game stepping in and stepping up at left back. It was these players determination that kept the team fighting from whistle to whistle. Unfortunately, a burst of movement and great play off the ball gave UD an advantage and opportunity to score twice at minutes 51 and 53:25 leaving Wiss at a deficit that proved to steep to clime out of. However and unyielding, Captain Alexis Smith's determination found the ball central to drive one in at 67:03 to breathe new life into her Trojans. And then again a few minutes later a near goal would rally her team once more. Despite this team effort the Trojans' battle fell short leaving the game's final score at 1-2.
We look forward to our second meeting at home. Our take-away is to be confident in our ability as a young team, as we know that we truly got better today.
