With the team STILL short-staffed due to spring break (does this thing ever end??), we went with what we had, giving some big-meet experience to the young ‘uns. We finally got a weather break with sunshine, but temps never really rose to predictions and with the stiff breeze, the hoodies were up and down all day. The kids thought it was great because at least it wasn’t snowing!

After a less than stellar indoor season (ask him, he’ll tell you), I seeded Rahsheedconservatively at 51.0 which put him in the next-to- fastest heat which he won in 50.46, dipping below the District Standard (DQS) of 50.84. The fast heat saw 4 guys in the same 50-point range with the winner in 50.01. Had he been in there….? But now we know he’s right there with the best in the district. The bad news was his no-show in the 200. (A tight hamstring warming up made for a better-safe-than-sorry withdrawal.)

Matt Maiale and Ben Hoyer train together and when they race together, they work as a team. Rather than split them up on Saturday, (3000 and/or 1600) they decided to try and go for a sub 4:30 1600M together. Pennridge’s Matt Eissler (4:22 PR) took off and a big gap opened between those who went with him and the chase pack (our guys). With Matt leading the way and Ben tagging along, they slowly reeled in all but Eissler. Matt’s 4:28.92 (DQS 4:28.24 – so close!) is a big 5 sec. drop from 4:33.7 he ran Tuesday, while Ben’s 4:30.73 improves 4 sec. on his 4:34.8 from Tuesday.

In other news, we got PRs from Christian McCarry, his first triple jump over 40-0 and 16.51 110HH, Solomon Thistle’s 2:11.43 at 800 and 55.91 DMR leg, and a decent early-season 15.98 110HH by Liam Davies.
