Last Thursday and Friday, the Wissahickon Girls' Swim team had a strong showing at the District One Championships held at LaSalle University. They earned a 15th place overall finish out of about 50 AAA teams. The biggest highlight was a seventh place finish in the final event of the meet, the 400 yard Freestyle Relay (consisting of Kelly Wild, Katie Sapozhnikov, Karis Kim and Carly Zlotnikoff) in a time that qualified for PIAA State Championships.
Swimmers who scored individual points were:
-Senior Kelly Wild in the 50 and 100 freestyles
-Sophohmore Carly Zlotnikoff in the 200 and 500 freestyles with state championship qualifying times in both events
-Karis Kim in the 500 freestyle
Up next are the PIAA State Championships being held at Bucknell University on March 17th and 18th.
