Last Wednesday and Thursday, four girls from the swim team represented Wissahickon at the PIAA State Championship meet. 

On Wednesday, Nora Weber swam the 200 yard Freestyle. At prelims, she was seeded 12th and dropped over 1.5 seconds to move up to sixth to qualify for the A Finals. At finals, she dropped nearly a half second for a personal best and moved up to fifth place. The 200y Freestyle Relay of Nora, Bernice Fu, Rachel Le, and Ava Walters moved up from their 28th seed to place 26th.

On Thursday, Nora was seeded first in the 500y Freestyle by a little over a second over the 2023 State Champion and after prelims she had the fastest seed time in the field by about 2.5 seconds. At finals, she won by over six seconds in a personal best time and a new team record! The 400y Freestyle Relay of Nora, Bernice, Rachel, and Ava moved up from their 29th seed to 26th place. 

Nora is Wissahickon swimming's first female state champion since 1989! Congratulation to Nora on her big win and to Bernice, Rachel, and Ava for capping off their HS swim career with great efforts at the state championships!
