On Tuesday, the Wissahickon Girls hosted Springfield Township HS. The meet was expected to be close, and the Wiss girls knew they needed to touch the wall first in all close races in order to have a chance to win. They did just that and ended up with a 16 point win. The Spartans pushed hard but Wiss prevailed winning all but two events. Across the board, the girls swam great with lots of personal bests. 

Highlights:

200y Medley Relay - the team of Rachel Le, Maddie Johnson, Ava Walters, and Sarah Pickel held off a hard charging Spartan relay to win in a season best time.

200y Free: Rachel Le recovered quickly from the Medley Relay to win in a personal best time.

200y IM: Ava Walters pulled away for a strong win.

50y Free: while Sarah Pickel placed second, hers was one of the most impressive swims of the meet in an personal best time.

100y Fly: Bernice Fu swam away from the field for the win.

100y Free - after a close loss in the 50y free, Sarah came back for a strong win in the 100.

500y Free - Maddie Johnson won in a personal best breaking the 5:30 barrier for the first time, while Gabby Jones came in second for the Trojans only 1-2 placing of the meet. 

200y Free Relay - the team of Ava Walters, Bernice Fu, Gabby Jones, and Sarah Pickel were neck in neck with Springfield but pulled out a very close win. Meanwhile the B relay team of Faith Pigeon, Lauren Seegers, Hazel Mullen, and Kaylyn MacMinn earned an important third place finish. 

100y Back - Ava Walters pulled ahead on the second fifty to earn the victory.

100y Breast - Maddie Johnson won in a nailbiter!

400y Free - Rachel Le, Gabby Jones, Bernice Fu, and Maddie Johnson won another very close relay with Maddie finally pulling ahead on the last fifty. Meanwhile, the B team of Kaylyn MacMinn, Hazel Mullen, Anna Forde, and Faith Pigeon came from behind to just touch out the Springfield B relay by a slim margin. 

This Thursday, Wissahickon will be hosting Gwynedd Mercy and Lower Moreland.
